Working with models #24

Filed under: Producing — Dr Bill @ 8:18 am

This is one of many articles I’ll post for those of you interested in producing your own content.  My focus will be more on working with the models and equipment, than dealing with the legal (2257) stuff.

When I get a model with long hair, I jump at the chance to capture him with that sexy wet hair look.  Some obvious approaches are to put the model in the shower, hot tub, pool, or washing a car.  However, you should not limit yourself to those options.  Wet hair looks great in a regular strip down and jack off shoot.

Just tell the model to take off his shirt and wet his hair down at the sink.  Have him towel dry his hair just enough so it is not dripping, and put his shirt back on.  This technique delivers a very different look for the model that produces some amazing results.  Often times it’s hotter than the dripping wet look.  If the model’s hair starts to dry out during the shoot, just have him wet it again.

If you are planning several sets in a shoot, and want one or more with dry hair, do them first.  Some models can’t get their hair to look right once it’s been wet.

Be sure to let your models know you don’t want them making any changes to their hair between shoots.  Do not assume these guys will think to check with you first.  If you do not make this clear to them, they often show up with their hair shaved off, or in some “cool” new color.  Even if you tell a model not to make changes, there’s no guarantee he won’t do it anyway.  In my book, that’s all the justification I need for canceling a shoot.

On the flip side, I had one model with long hair that did not want to cut it when I asked him to.  No problem…it’s his choice.  I just didn’t shoot him any more.  Then one day he calls to inform me he’s cut his hair, so I scheduled him for a shoot.  He didn’t bother to mention he’d also changed his beautiful blond hair to a wonderful shade of blue.

What comes around goes around

Filed under: General — Dr Bill @ 6:48 am

Why do webmasters still insist on treating the customer like shit.  Lies, deception, and trickery may still work on some, but for every sale made this way, a hundred are lost.  The customer has not gone away.  No, they are still here, but jaded from all the bad experiences our industry has delivered them.  Once bitten, twice shy, is now the norm of our customers’ mindset.

We are our own worst enemy.  If not the culprits, we are at least turning a blind eye to those that are.  I see professional site reviewers giving good marks to sites they know full well are total rip offs.  I see program owners stating publicly they don’t care if the customer feels ripped off, because they will have already gotten their money.  I see respected webmasters knowingly recommending garbage programs to their colleagues, in hopes of picking up the referral dollars.  Yet few have the gonads to stand up and say something.

Webmasters that refuse to embrace quality and integrity in their business practices are just hurting themselves and the industry as a whole.  Webmasters that help to perpetuate this cancer are, in my opinion, a greater blight than the disease itself.

Gay Phoenix Forum Announced

Filed under: Industry News — Dr Bill @ 8:05 am

Last week CCBill laid rest to the rumors of a planed gay version of their popular Phoenix Forum.  The Gay Phoenix Forum will be held in downtown Phoenix October 5 - 7, 2006.  According to the announcement, the event will run similarly to The Spring Forum, but with a few fun twists.

Just as The Phoenix Forum has benefited from the diverse attendee base of both straight and gay companies, CCBill promises The Gay Forum will follow the same philosophy, and encourage the same diversity on both the attendee and sponsor sides.

While the announcement solicited sponsors for the new “Gay Forum” contact information was not included.  An official web site for The Gay Phoenix Forum, with more details, is expected to be on-line in the near future.

Growing Numbers Surf the Web Just for Fun

Filed under: Market Data — Dr Bill @ 8:16 am

Pew Internet ProjectAccording to the Pew Internet Project, more Americans are turning to the Internet as a place to hang out. Nearly a third of Internet users go online on a typical day for no particular reason, just for fun or to pass the time.

Two-thirds of all Internet users have tried surfing the Web just to pass the time, according to a Pew survey conducted in December 2005. Some 40 million people said they were surfing for fun on a typical day during the month. This number is up from 25 million people who were browsing for no particular reason in November 2004, the most recent time when this question was asked by the Pew Internet Project.

Working with models #23

Filed under: Producing — Dr Bill @ 8:12 am

This is one of many articles I’ll post for those of you interested in producing your own content.  My focus will be more on working with the models and equipment, than dealing with the legal (2257) stuff.

Some models will have difficulty getting hard without some visual aids.  So it’s a good idea to have some movies and magazines on hand.  Make sure you have good variety.  Everyone has their own taste, and yours may not be the same as the model’s.

I’ve found most straight boys don’t need any help, but you may want to have something for them, just in case.  I usually tell the straight guys if they need any assistance, then bring it with them.  Unlike a lot of Gay models, the straight guys almost always have their own porn.

Make sure you keep the porn out of your shots, as it could create copyright problems.  I happen to have some 20 year old Italian magazines that are safe to use in shoots, but most people are not going to have that luxury.

Sometimes all a model needs to do is look at some porn before the shoot starts.  Many times I’ve just let the model set at my computer and surf some porn before starting the shoot.  I had one model that would look at four or five pictures and tell me he was ready to go.  Gawd…I wish they were all that easy.

I strongly discourage the offering of prescription drugs to assist models with maintaining an erection.  There is way too much liability with this practice.  If the model needs this sort of thing, he should procure it himself by seeing a physician.
