This is one of many articles I’ll post for those of you interested in producing your own content. My focus will be more on working with the models and equipment, than dealing with the legal (2257) stuff.

Everyone has his or her own favorite areas of the body. For example, I’m a butt man. For this reason, you want to make sure all of the popular body parts are captured in a shoot. You do this by getting close-ups, and by instructing the model to avoid covering certain areas while posing. The areas you want to capture are: face, ears, tongue, armpits, elbows, nipples, navel, dick, balls, asshole, butt, and feet - top and bottom. Make sure to capture piercings or tattoos, as they are an area of interest for some people.

Be creative with your camera angles and model positions. You don’t want it to look like you are working down a list of things that need to be covered in the shoot. For the most part you want it to look like circumstance instead of intentional. As an example, shoot a chest up headshot of the model licking his armpit. This will capture face, nipple, tongue and armpit, along with any piercings in those areas.

I promise if you pay attention to these details it will set you apart from the typical amateur photographer.

According to a release from Lucas Entertainment, Michael Lucas got booed each time his company was named during the ceremony. Things got chillier when GAYVN attendees threw ice at Michael during his acceptance for best picture. Apparently the ice volley came after Lucas joked “Thank you to those who voted for me, and fuck you to those who didn’t.”

The ice launchers were later identified as Raging Stallion’s boys which, according to Lucas Entertainment, prompted this response:

Dear Michael–Chris Ward here from Raging Stallion Studios. I want to offer my deepest apologies for what happened when you were on stage to receive the top prize of best picture. As you know, Ice was thrown at you from the Raging Stallion crowd. This was unacceptable behavior and I am deeply upset about this. I am very sorry that this happened and I will directly deal with the person involved.

Lucas Entertainment also states that Chris Ward’s apology has been accepted.

Last summer Boy Fun tried moving their affiliate programs to NATS. The new XXXRewards program was well into its transition with affiliates when an announcement was made that they were backing away from NATS and returning to their old system. To make things worse, this took place at the same time everyone was running around trying to get compliant under the new 2257 regulations.

Needles to say, the entire thing turned into one big cluster fuck. I got so frustrated with the confusion and lack of communication that I finally quit promoting them. Based on the posts made in some of the webmaster forums, others were equally frustrated.

Fast forward eight months and I get an Email announcing the launch of XXXRewards. The announcement reads like this is a new thing - no mention of their previous attempt. I guess maybe they think people have short memories, or maybe they don’t want to remind anyone of the mess they put webmasters through last summer.

In any case, the new program offers a 60% payout on all new and recurring sales, which is an increase from the 50/50 structure they had been at. They have also added a webmaster referral system where you earn 10% of new and recurring sales for each new affiliate webmaster you send them.

XXXRewards now offers a bonus program. Affiliates that send 100 or more new joins during any given pay period (1 month) will receive an extra $5 per join bonus with no limit.

Other enhancements include, campaign tracking, more payment options for consumers, cascading billing, and an expanded assortment of promotional tools.

I did test their webmaster support service over the weekend, and I’m pleased to report they were prompt with a reply. By all accounts it looks like they have their act together this time.

Boy Fun has been around for many years and boasts one of the largest twink collections in the business. A large portion of their collection is exclusive, making Boy Fun an attractive site to promote. While I’m disappointed they did not step up and apologise for what they put webmasters through last summer, I’ve decided to give XXXRewards.com another try.

Existing affiliates should login to the new system and check their contact information. Mine was all messed up, but that’s common in a transition like this.

GlobeBoys.com, a new twink site, has just launched using CCbill as its processor. The site owner claims early conversion results are at roughly 1:100 using poor quality traffic, such as top lists.

The site’s price points are $19.95 recurring, $24.95 non-recurring, and $49.95 for 90 days non-recurring. Webmasters make 50% on all sales and rebills, and 10% on referrals. Affiliates do not pay any portion of the CCbill processing fee. In addition, the CCbill cookie is set at 90 days.

No matter what location you shoot in, make sure that setting is sanitized before you start. You want to remove, or cover up, anything that should not be in the photos or video. Here is a list of some things to look for:

• Anything with a company or organizational name or logo
• Items that might be subject to copyright, including posters on the walls
• Family photos or other personal and private items
• Items that identify the regional location (city & state) of the shoot
• Automobile license plates

Bottom line is you want to protect yourself from any potential civil liability. You also want to protect the model’s privacy, so don’t leave any clues as to where he lives. And if you are using someone’s property, you need to protect his or her privacy.
