So my new years resolution for 2007 is to be more out going and meet some friends in the BIZ in 2007. I'm getting started a little early. I want to get my business off the ground this year and I know I'm going to need guidance from some pros if I stand any chance - so here I am
I built my two DVD sites myself this year and have worked pretty hard to get the titles I have up there and get some inventory built up .. I've been working on some SEO initiatives and some PPC and have a steady stream of unique traffic each day but sales are not so hot.
Can someone tell me why? Is the DVD business model dead now that VOD is so prevalent? Is my choice of titles too small? Do my sites just suck?
Anyone have some feedback / suggestions / ideas - I can handle it and would appreciate the honest criticism. Chris

Hi Chris, and welcome! Sorry, but your site needs some design work. And the shopping cart is asking for credit card information in a non-secure environment. Frankly, that shopping cart of yours sucks bad. You may also want to look at trying to "tease" your potential customers with a short clip or two and maybe some stills. These are fickle customers your dealing with and you need to "titlate" them with "candy". Wow, I could go on for ages.....BTW good NY's resolution.
My first reaction to your sites is you need to use a white background. I'm a big believer in black, but its not the color of choice for most "stores". I think consumers expect white, so using black makes your sites look a bit old school. I may be wrong on this, but I think your pricing is a bit high for the VERY competitive and over saturated DVD market.
You might want to start a new thread about this in the general discussion forum. Start by telling us how you are getting traffic to your sites.

Thanks Guys. I'm currently using '1shoppingcart.com' but have had a hard time customizing it the way I want it to look, feel and perform. I incorporate the shopping cart into my site using iframes and thought I had my pages secured through GEOTRUST. I got an encryption error when I've made test purchases so I know I've got security issues that need to be address fast.
I'm looking at a couple new cart applications 'ecart' from web assist and 'x-cart' and may need to start all over with a more dynamic and customizable cart. I'll start another traffic related post - but as i think about my plans, I should probably spend less time and effort driving traffic to a site that doesn't convert and focus on design and security. Thanks again - I appreciate it! chris

Hello, Ace. If you're still looking for feedback on Aceboys, I suggest making the text colors #006699 and #334d55 lighter for the black background. They are somewhat hard to read; greater contrast with the background color would help.
