NATS Litigation Web Site

Filed under: Industry News, Affiliate News, Legal Issues — Dr Bill @ 12:57 am
NATS Litigation Web Site

For those interested in the civil litigation against Too Much Media / NATS, there is a web site apparently published by NR Media (NRM), the original plaintiff. With the case now amended to a class action lawsuit, the web site serves as both an information resource and plaintiff recruitment vehicle.

While the primary focus of the lawsuit centers on the highly publicized NATS security breach, the NRM complaint also alleges NATS software does not calculate commissions reliably and accurately, and that the biller admin does not interface effectively with all processors, resulting in the under-reporting of sign-ups and rebills.

Mega Gay Porn Site Badpuppy Turns 13

Filed under: Industry News — Dr Bill @ 1:01 am

That’s 91 in dog years!

Badpuppy Boy

Founded in 1995, the Badpuppy website, which has become a household name for web surfers searching for some of the best in gay adult entertainment, turned 13 on Saturday May 17th.

“Badpuppy turning 13 is just so hard to believe,” says Badpuppy President/CEO Bill Pinyon. “The longevity and success we’ve enjoyed I contribute to my life partner Steven Wojcik and the incredible staff we have, whereas a good number of them have been with us for 12 years or longer,” Pinyon added.

Started as a hobby, Badpuppy has grown into a huge high tech network, recognized as one of the best and most trusted in the industry. If you ever have the opportunity to hang out with the Badpuppy gang you’ll quickly realize they are like one big happy family, all dedicated to delivering the very best for their customers and affiliates.

Marketing & Advertising Manager Lisa Turner cannot believe the growth, in company staff, the website, and their entire network. “It’s to the point I cannot even begin to describe to a visiting business associate our network and computer room,” Lisa commented.

Badpuppy continues to offer a huge amount of diverse content. There is something for everyone at the veteran gay porn mega site. With multiple content updates every day, and 24/7 customer support, its no wonder why this old dog stands out from all of the rest.

Both Pinyon and Turner hint that bigger things are on the way for Badpuppy. All they would say is, “There is an island of opportunity in the near future and we’ll be sharing that with you very, very soon.” Stay tuned!

Happy Birthday Badpuppy, and congratulations to the Puppy’s family that make it all happen.

ASACP ’s RTA Announces New PSA

Filed under: Industry News — Dr Bill @ 3:17 am

RTA

The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has created a public service announcement (PSA) featuring Stormy Daniels for the RTA (”Restricted to Adults”) website label.

The new video which is available for viewing on YouTube.com and on ASACP’s MySpace Page features Daniels discussing the RTA website label and encouraging parents to use parental filtering software. The one minute video is the first in what will become an ongoing series of PSAs. ASACP urges all of its supporters to help spread the word about adopting the RTA website label by featuring the PSA on their websites.

A video that ASACP produced last summer featuring highlights from a press conference announcing RTA has been viewed over 100,000 times on YouTube. While that video was only available for viewing on the internet, plans are being made to make ASACP’s PSA series available in formats that can be used on cable networks and on DVDs.

ASACP encourages anyone who has not adopted the RTA label to do such. RTA was developed out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of “meta data” which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing age-inappropriate material. The RTA label is free and universally available. ASACP launched RTA in November 2006 and it now has over four million page link-ins. Complete information about the RTA label and how to use it is available at www.RTAlabel.org.

Gaydemon Adds 2 More Web Sites

Filed under: Industry News, Traffic — Dr Bill @ 3:36 am
Gaydemon

This week Bjorn of Gaydemon announced two more sites in his growing collection of gay adult oriented properties.

Gay Porn Engine

Gaydemon has recently acquired yet another traffic site. Gay Porn Engine is a medium sized directory and link list, which has now been redesigned with a great deal less advertising and streamlined to give submitters more traffic to submitted sites.

Gaydemon.biz

The, dare I say it, king of gay adult links directories has decided to venture into the adult webmaster resource arena with the launch of Gaydemon.biz Webmaster Forum. Bjorn certainly has the respect of everyone in the gay adult industry, and he’s got some good people helping out with moderation, so there’s an excellent chance this one will take off.

With the addition of these two sites, Bjorn now manages 5 properties, including his flagship Gaydemon portal, and recently acquired Bostonboyz and Best Male Blogs directories.

HDK Begins HIV/STD Testing

Filed under: Industry News — Dr Bill @ 12:02 am
Hot Desert Knights

Gay bareback production studio Hot Desert Knights, Inc. (HDK), has announced they will immediately begin testing all HDK models for HIV and other STD’s. All testing will be conducted through the auspices of the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM).

HDK president Bill Gardner said, “We are alarmed and shocked at the proliferation of new bareback studios, especially those from overseas, who are using increasingly younger models without providing any counseling or information regarding STD transmission to these models. It appears as if these studios care little for the health and safety of their models”.

Gardner went on to say, “We are happy to take the lead as the first bareback studio to provide testing and know that by doing so we are providing an environment of safer sex for all of our talent. Sexually Transmitted Diseases, other than HIV, can cause serious health problems for the talent in our industry and many STD’s can be acquired by the various sex acts performed in front of the camera other than anal sex”. “For that reason, we urge all gay studios to consider testing all models for STD’s if they truly wish to provide a safer sex work environment”, stated Gardner.

In a comment on his blog Gardner lashed out at leading industry pro-condom advocates…

Chi-Chi and Keith Webb from Titan, ARE YOU LISTENING???? I’ve heard from a couple of friends that Keith from Titan has even made the comment that we must have some type of ulterior motive. What the hell could be “ulterior” about trying to stop the spread of HIV and other STD’s.

As everyone knows, C1R (Chi-Chi’s studio) and Titan have been the most outspoken spokesmen against bareback films. Yet, neither one of them test any of their models for anything. Do they really think that a condom is going to stop the spread of all STD’s when the models are doing other things in front of the camera (and before the camera is turned on)that place the models at risk of catching some other STD such as Hepatitis C?

For years they kept saying that what we were doing was wrong. That we didn’t care about the health and safety of our models. Hmmm, I’m beginning to wonder how genuine their complaints were…or were they just losing money to bareback sales and it turns out they were more concerned about losing money than protecting their own models?

C’mon Chi-Chi, Keith and Chris at Raging Stallion, put your money where your collective mouths have been! STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO THE RIGHT THING, START TESTING! It’s time that every gay studio starts testing.

In addition to HIV, Hot Desert Knights will also be testing for Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Hepatitis A, B&C. HDK will then sero-sort accordingly.

My take on the NATS drama

Filed under: Industry News, Affiliate News — Dr Bill @ 10:27 pm

NATSThe Next-Generation Administration and Tracking System (NATS), a popular adult industry third party affiliate backend solution, has recently come under fire for mismanagement of a security issue involving admin passwords they maintain for support of their clients.

A few sponsor programs, using NATS, have recommended webmasters log into their account and check for any alterations of their personal data. These same sponsor programs are suggesting webmasters change their password immediately, using a strong, random alphanumeric password that is unique to the account.

As of this writing there does not appear to be any hard evidence any damage has been done to affiliate webmasters, or consumers, as a result of the security breach. While some webmasters have expressed concerns over identity theft, it is entirely possible the only real damage will be felt by NATS owned Too Much Media (TMM) and their clients.

The timing of this could not have been worse for TMM, as they just purchased Segregated Payments, Ltd. (SegPay), an adult billing company accused by industry pundants of being a rebirth of the now defunct iBill. Some speculate protecting their recent investment had a lot to do with TMM trying to keep a lid on their NATS security woes.

For sponsor programs, NATS has been a huge selling point in affiliate webmaster recruitment. Now some programs are questioning how much of a liability the NATS label might be in both recruitment and retention. Consumer confidence has also been raised as an issue. While there is no evidence consumers have anything to worry about, regarding the security of their credit card data, media hype has the potential of generating unwarranted fears of NATS powered sites.

I have accounts with dozens of NATS powered programs, but have only received messages from four sponsors regarding this issue. It is a bit disturbing only a few have been assertive in addressing this problem with their affiliate base. Granted, this all surfaced over the Christmas holiday, but I’m impressed by the handful that jumped on it immediately. It remains to be seen how many programs will take any action before year’s end.

Cybersocket Web Awards

Filed under: Industry News — Dr Bill @ 10:46 pm
Cybersocket Web Awards

Voting for the 8th Annual Cybersocket Web Awards is underway. With a dark cloud over their head, concerning credibility with advertisers, some within the industry have hinted the publisher’s annual awards might not be completely on the up and up.

When you consider Cybersocket’s decision to track unique Email addresses, as a means of preventing any padding of the votes, the suggestion voting might be rigged probably will influence industry opinions. The absence of an independent agent to tally and validate the votes doesn’t help either.

The whole thing is moot really. Industry Choice and Surfer Choice awards are most valuable to a company’s consumer marketing strategy, and the vast majority of consumers know nothing of this controversy.

So its business as usual folks.
