Working with models - introduction
This is the first of many articles I’ll post for those of you interested in producing your own content. My focus will be more on working with the models and equipment, than dealing with the legal (2257) stuff.
With content supply drying up, and I expect this trend will continue, you my find producing your own is a necessity to survival. And its no secret exclusive content sells much better than what’s available from the suppliers.
My experience is working with 18-25 year old twinks. This is the most lucrative and most difficult age group to work with. The older they are (21-25), the more responsible, dependable, and together they get. Even so, most guys in this age group come with a lot of baggage.
It’s real easy to get caught up in their drama. From experience I can tell you its best to keep things at a business level and avoid getting sucked into their personal lives. Otherwise you are at great risk of getting drained mentally, physically, and financially.
Let these guys know right up front that you do not loan money, front money for future shoots, bail them out of jail, or take calls from jail. Also let them know what hours of the day or night they are allowed to call you.
Most people think producing is sexy, exciting and fun. Anyone that has done it will tell you its hard work that requires good discipline and comes with a lot of frustration. I’m not saying its without rewards, but don’t kid yourself into thinking it’s a ticket to candy land.
So, if you are still interested in producing, watch for more articles.

It would be helpful to take a look at what the latest model release(s) looks like.

Model releases vary in length from one page to several. I’ve even heard of one producer using a 29-page release. A model release is a contractual agreement between the model and producer. As such, it is in the best interest of the producer to have this document developed with the assistance of a qualified attorney.
The language of a model release is driven by a number of things. The laws of the state, county, and city you are in may have in impact. The type of production – still, video, live – are factors. How you plan to use (publish) the materials might influence the wording. I’m sure there are other considerations, but those come to mind as I’m writing this.
That said, you can download a free model release, written by an attorney, at Adult Site Law.
